June, 2014 JSS bee show ‘n tell

The color of the day for June, 2014 JSS was WHITE as requested by Hostess Davene, but the show ‘n tell had many colors and even some WHITE.

This beauty was made by Patti. That IS a lot of piecing!!!

Pixie and Davene have been friends since grade school and now both live in the DFW area. Pixie spent the night before bee at Davene’s and they stitched.  Pixie lives on the south side of FW and she attended TVQG meeting with us last week. She even took the Thursday workshop with Jodi Barrows and made blocks with the Square in a Square ruler.  The blocks she made were then made into this darling dress.

Kay brought this WHITE quilt. She HAND quilted it years ago and it is still beautiful!

This looks more like our colorFULL Kay!

And these umbrellas were made from a kit from Su & Duane Bunch’s of Piece Keepers.

The design and pattern are by Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts. Doesn’t the quilting look like rain?

(Edyta has a fun blog. Here is the link to a post from Chicago Quilt Market. Fun seeing what’s new through the eyes of Edyta!)

These are Cindy’s current block-of-the-month blocks. I did not remember the web site, so maybe Cindy will comment and tell us. They are so pretty and precisely pieced!

Madelyn brought this quilt made from Jodi Barrows fabrics.

Here is Sue, our Studying JSSer!  She pulled out this quilt so she would have some needlework to do because working full time and working on another degree is not enough to keep her going. Sue admitted that she did not remember reading the emails asking us to bring Jodi Barrows quilts and yet here is hers. Really, Sue! You Go, Girl! Glad to hear the  ‘tell’ that school is going well!

If you too like this pattern – it is a free download from Jodi Barrow.

Also at show ‘n tell Barb and I brought our little – and I mean LITTLE – Christmas trees. You can see that is a free pattern too. At bee we just forgot to ask someone to take our photo while we held up our trees.  🙂

Sally is whipping the binding on this precious baby quilt.

Davene used gradation fabrics for the skirt on this precious dress.

This quilt top was made by Kay for Davene. Remember Kay? It was a brown bag challenge. Right Kay? O well, we may not remember it, but all agree it has been beautifully quilted!

Anyone remember seeing this quilt? Some of us saw this on the retreat design wall. Great progress! Great colors!

Remember, remember, remember – sometimes it is tough to remember. Sometimes it has been a long time and remembering is not easy. Sometimes it has been a short time and remembering is still not easy. Sometimes time has nothing to do with remembering. O well we will just go-with-whatever, do the best we can and look to one another to help us remember.

Let’s look at this quilt from the perspective of being unforgetable! Maddy is happiest when working with Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Hang on to your hat!

It looks like the wind is BLOWIN and moving these fabrics when she is holding it still. And when she is moving it…..whoa!!!

And last but not least – Maddye is done with all the WHITE!  🙂
